Most jobs in a casino require basic skills such as counting money or dealing cards, and these workers generally commute from other areas. This may not be a problem in urban centers with sufficient skilled labor, but it can be a serious issue in rural areas where unemployment is already high.

The most successful casinos focus on attracting “high rollers,” or gamblers who spend a lot of money. These gamblers usually gamble in special rooms, separate from the main casino floor, and can be rewarded with free hotel rooms, meals, tickets to shows, and limo service. In return, these high rollers increase the casino’s profits.
